Five faces, each with a color of their own. One of them has nothing left to lose. One of them never says a word.

"Five. Four. Three."
The only one of twelve who came back from the valley. He moves less than anyone in the room, and he already knows how this ends.

"My family built this city."
Walked out of court a free man and smiled for every camera on the steps. The smile never reaches his eyes.

"Make the call. This city is ours now."
Silver hair, black overcoat, heavy-lidded eyes. He never raises his voice, because he has never needed to.

"Thursday. Twelve years I've never been late."
Sells the Falcos their phones, nine at a time, every Thursday. Friendly in daylight. Sweating by the end.

(He doesn't say a word.)
Curly hair, glasses, sleeves rolled up, a screen in his hands. He shows up in the back room. Nobody explains him.

Every shot in Sugar Inferno is painted in one of three palettes. The color tells you where you are, and whether he's remembering. Then there's the fourth light.
DesertHot white sky and hard black shadows. It only bleeds into the city when he's remembering.
City nightRain, wet asphalt and neon bounce. Benny's shop glows warm yellow against it.
FalcoGold light, green tile, black marble and a touch of purple. Money that wants to be seen.
Device glowThe fourth light. It shows up three times, it has no warmth in it, and we're not going to explain it.

The story so far
Twelve men went into that valley. Their route was sold before they crossed the border, and Sandman is the one who came home.
Back in the city he mops floors at night and watches Julian Falco beat the charges on TV. He doesn't go after the family. He goes after their phone man: Benny Oroz, who has sold to them every Thursday for twelve years and has never once been late.
One shipment. One sealed case. Nine men at that table. The trailers won't tell you the rest. That belongs to episode one.
"Not guns, Pop. An upgrade." Julian Falco
